- Plumb remained on the farm until he was eighteen, during which time he acquired a common-school education. At eighteen he became interested in the paper business, and in 1836 was admitted to the firm, who, together with his brother Daniel, succeeded their father in the business. He still retains an interest in the business, but has retired from the active duties of the manufacturing, and devotes his time in fart to his farm. He also holds the position of director of the Bridgeport National Bank, where he has been identified for twelve years. In politics he is a Republican, has been a member of the State Legislature, Magistrate of the town, etc.
