  Their hgoneymoon was spent traveling all day by horse and cutter to the new house the groom had built on the east half of his father's farm on the 4th Con of Yarmouth Twp. In 1902 they sold part of the farm and moved to St. Thomas where John was employed in the M.C.R.R. shops until his retirement. John was the grandson of Jonathan Doan, the founder of the Quaker Settlement at Sparta, Ontario. In her old age, Catherine Doan was badly crippled by arthritis and spent her last years in a wheel chair. They are both buried in Union Cemetery. They had 3 children. Catherine A.
