Charles Sherman moved his family to Lancaster, Ohio about 1806 when he surveyed what was then called the Western Connecticut Reserve. Part of his pay was considerable land in Sherman Township, Huron County, now Ohio. Later he rode circuit as a Judge many years, until his death. He was elected by the Legislature to the bench of the Supreme Court. This if from Vernon W. Sherman).

Daughter of Thomas William Fitch and Maria Ewing Sherman, his wife. Granddaughter of Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman and Eleanor Boyle Ewing, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of Hon. Charles R. Sherman and Mary Hoyt. his wife; Thomas Ewing and Maria Wells Boyle, his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Hon. Taylor Sherman and Elizabeth Stoddard, his wife; George Ewing and Rachel Harris, his wife. Gr.-gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Daniel Sherman and Mindwell Sherman, his wife. Daniel Sherman, (1721-99), served on the Committee of Safety during the entire contest and was a member of the General Assembly for fifty-nine semi-annual sessions. He had three sons killed in the war. He was born in Woodbury, Conn., where he died. Also Nos. 3774, 4690, 5522, 7309, 10709. George Ewing, (1754-1824), enlisted, 1775, as ensign of New Jersey infantry and was at Ticonderoga, Long Island, Trenton, Germantown and Valley Forge. He was lieutenant of Artillery, 1778, under Capt. Randall. The diary he kept during service ends at this date. He was born in Greenwich, N. J.; died in Indiana.
